At Sternat Manaigre Law Corporation, the health and safety of our clients, lawyers, employees and our community are of utmost importance as the global Covid-19 pandemic unfolds in its ever-changing manner.

We remain fully operational and are taking the following steps to ensure the safety of our firm’s members and of the public at large:

• Our lawyers and staff are, for the most part, working remotely. We have a limited complement of staff and lawyers coming into the office on a rotational basis to take care of essential functions.
• Our offices are closed to the public, except for brief meetings to sign documents. We have implemented drop boxes outside of our office to receive and send packages, where necessary. Our hours of operation have been reduced to 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the time being.
• When meetings occur in our office, they are taking place in a designated boardroom and all surfaces are cleaned and disinfected after every use.
• Our regular cleaning procedures have been enhanced to ensure firm and public safety.

We ask that all clients, vendors and other individuals not attend our office if you are sick, have a fever, are experiencing flu-like symptoms, have travelled internationally or within Canada within the last 14 days, or have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with Covid-19.

Please be aware that the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench remains closed to all but emergency hearings until April 17, 2020.  More information about the court closure can be found here: http://www.manitobacourts.mb.ca/

An emergency hearing in family court will likely only involve cases where there is a risk of immediate harm to a child. Court hearings involving child support, spousal support, and ordinary custody arrangements will likely be delayed for some time. The Maintenance Enforcement Program continues to function with limited staff. However, there may be delays in accessing their services. Please feel free to contact your lawyer to assist with any issues that may arise, as there may be other solutions for dealing with your matter in the interim.
